Common Failure Modes
Symptoms: The S1 powers on but the low/high beam is dim, flickers, or does not respond.
Likely areas: Mode settings, aircraft power budget, lighting head, thermal protection, SKYPORT contacts.
Check the aircraft and lighting mode first; stop use if the housing overheats or output is unstable.
Symptoms: The beam does not point with the selected gimbal mode or tracking view.
Likely areas: Gimbal motion, mounting, firmware, synchronization settings.
Do not force the gimbal; compare its motion with the official controllable range.
Symptoms: DJI Pilot 2 does not detect the S1 or cannot control lighting.
Likely areas: Supported aircraft/controller pairing, firmware, SKYPORT contacts, power.
Power off before inspecting or reseating the detachable payload; do not treat a pairing mismatch as a proven hardware fault.
Symptoms: Damaged housing, wet contacts, corrosion or abnormal heat after use.
Likely areas: Housing, seals, contacts and power path.
IP54 is a controlled-test rating, not a waterproof guarantee; isolate and assess a damaged unit before reuse.
Repair Notes
Confirm the S1 model, supported aircraft, controller and firmware, then check DJI Pilot 2 lighting modes and aircraft power budget.
Power off the aircraft before detaching S1. Inspect SKYPORT contacts and test gimbal movement without forcing its axes.
Test low beam, high beam, Both On and strobe separately; stop if output or shell temperature is abnormal.
After service, verify beam direction, control mapping and a short controlled ground test before operational flight.
