Complete repair process
A useful repair guide should remove uncertainty at each step. It should help a customer describe the real symptom, understand what diagnosis can and cannot establish, read a written quote, approve only the work they understand, and verify the repaired aircraft before it returns to service.

Start with the exact aircraft and the observed problem
Do not begin with a guessed part or a generic online price. Keep the aircraft, controller, batteries, supplied accessories, error screens, visible damage and known crash, moisture or prior-service history in one record. Diagnosis can then connect the observed symptom to a proposed repair path without pretending that an error message proves the failed component.
How should a customer move from concern to evidence?
A repair decision becomes trustworthy when each layer answers a real customer concern. The exact unit and observed symptom come first; diagnosis and written scope come next; approval, testing and the support boundary follow. The table below is the common decision spine for this guide.
What should happen before a drone is shipped for repair?
The safest first step is evidence capture, not disassembly. Record the exact model and serial identity available to you, the controller and batteries supplied with it, the wording of any app or aircraft warning, and the sequence of events before the fault appeared. Photograph visible damage from several angles. If there was an impact, water exposure, overheating event or earlier repair, say so directly. An unknown should stay written as an unknown rather than being filled with a confident guess.
Remove memory cards and unrelated accessories unless the service team specifically asks for them. Protect the gimbal and loose parts without forcing a damaged mechanism into position. A swollen, leaking, unusually hot or visibly damaged battery needs a separate carrier-compliant safety decision; it should not be packed as if it were an ordinary accessory. The repair route should confirm what may be shipped and what should remain behind.
What does diagnosis need to establish?
Diagnosis should move from the reported symptom to observations on the exact unit. That can include power behavior, connection state, error records, visible mechanical condition and functional checks appropriate to the reported problem. It should distinguish a confirmed finding from a possible cause. A warning code can narrow the investigation, but it does not automatically prove that a particular board, cable, sensor or motor must be replaced.
A good assessment also defines the stop boundary. If safe testing is not possible because of battery damage, liquid exposure, structural damage or unstable motor behavior, the correct result is to stop rather than force a flight test. The customer should be able to see why the proposed work follows from the evidence collected and which questions still remain open.
What should a written repair quote show?
The quote should identify the unit, the observed fault, the work proposed, the parts path, the testing included and the conditions that could change the scope. It should separate inspection findings from assumptions and make clear whether approval covers a component-level repair, a module replacement, structural work or further diagnosis. The customer should not have to infer whether a listed part is genuine, donor, recovered, third-party or new.
Reboot Hub uses a diagnostic fee for the inspection. When a repair is approved, that fee becomes a service credit toward eligible labor or service charges; it does not apply to parts, taxes or special-order items, and it cannot exceed the labor or service charge. When a repair is declined, the diagnostic fee covers the inspection and Reboot Hub pays return shipping. These boundaries belong in the decision before work begins.
How should repair approval and changes be handled?
Approval should refer to the written scope, not a vague instruction to make the drone work. If inspection reveals a materially different fault or additional damage, the customer should receive the revised evidence and scope before extra work is authorized. This protects both sides: the technician is not expected to solve an undefined list of problems, and the customer is not surprised by an expanded repair that was never discussed.
Repair work normally takes 1-3 business days after quote approval. That repair period is separate from inbound carrier transit, parts availability, customs handling where applicable and return transit. A customer planning around a deadline should ask for the current order-specific timeline rather than treating the repair period as a door-to-door promise.
What should post-repair testing prove?
Testing should be tied to the work performed and the original complaint. A gimbal repair needs evidence that the gimbal initializes and responds appropriately; a power-path repair needs stable startup and power behavior; a motor or flight-system concern needs safe ground checks before any controlled flight is considered. Testing should also look for related symptoms that could make the apparent fix incomplete.
The result should record what was observed, what was tested and any boundary that remains. A successful bench check does not create permission to fly in unsuitable weather or airspace, and it does not replace a careful pre-flight inspection after shipping. Use the dedicated post-repair checklist for the return-to-service sequence rather than assuming that arrival alone means the aircraft is ready to fly.
What warranty applies after repair?
Repair work has a 30-day repair warranty covering the eligible completed repair work under the written terms. That is different from the 180-day product warranty for qualifying complete pre-owned products. Neither term should be stretched into a promise about unrelated damage, a later crash, liquid exposure, consumable wear, misuse or work outside the approved repair scope.
The customer should keep the quote, approval, repair record and return evidence together. If the original repaired issue appears again during the repair-warranty period, report the symptom with the prior repair reference so the support team can compare the new evidence with the completed work. Clear records are more useful than an unsupported statement that the drone has the same problem.
