Symptoms, Evidence and Diagnosis
Before this lesson: Preserve the exact symptom and stop when structure, battery, liquid or powered hardware may be unsafe.
What you will understand
- Separate the visible symptom from the functional domains that can produce it.
- Use model- and board-bounded repair experience without turning one case into a universal claim.
- Move from the customer's concern to written findings, approval and staged acceptance evidence.
Original Mavic Pro diagnosis
The original DJI Mavic Pro has a repair architecture that should not be confused with Mavic 2 or later Mavic aircraft. Its 1/2.3-inch CMOS camera, three-axis gimbal, forward and downward vision, power board, core board and flight controller ESC board create distinct evidence paths. This guide starts with the customer's concern and converts real repair experience into exact-model, board-revision-bounded written findings.
Quick answer
Separate camera, flight controller ESC, power and core-board evidence before approving work
Record the exact aircraft, controller, battery, event and warning. Preserve original media and note whether GPS, forward vision, downward vision, fan, USB, control link and motors remain available. Reboot Hub uses those relationships to distinguish visible damage from hidden functional faults, state known and unknown findings and define parts provenance and acceptance in writing.
What evidence should be captured before the customer acts?
How does repair-bench experience map the fault domains?
How do you keep an original Mavic Pro repair model-specific?
Confirm the aircraft label, original folding airframe, controller, battery and the 1/2.3-inch CMOS camera on its three-axis gimbal. Do not import Mavic 2 or Mavic 3 assumptions. Photograph identifiers and the complete kit before work, then attach the reported symptom and event history to that exact unit.
The model boundary matters because power, core, flight controller ESC, sensing and camera parts differ across generations. Reboot Hub records the relevant board revision and parts provenance with each proposal. A useful exact model finding can be public when it is supported by case-level evidence; it is not presented as a universal explanation for every Mavic named in a search query.
What evidence separates a camera problem from a gimbal problem?
Preserve original files, live view, recording response, startup movement, horizon, vibration, focus and the exact warning. Observe the powered-off gimbal without forcing an axis. A missing image, unstable horizon, failed recording and mechanical obstruction are different symptoms even when the operator describes all of them as camera broken.
The camera signal path, gimbal controller, flexible connections, core processing and mechanical assembly can overlap. Written findings should identify what was reproduced and what remains unknown. Replacing a complete gimbal-camera assembly may be justified in one case, while a bounded connection or mechanical repair may be stronger in another.
What does a motor that will not start prove about the ESC?
Begin with propeller, motor freedom, arm geometry, cable history, impact evidence, abnormal heat and whether one or all motors are affected. The flight controller ESC board participates in motor drive, but a silent corner can also involve the motor, structure, wiring or connection. Do not run a visibly damaged propulsion system simply to gather more evidence.
Bench comparison across the four positions helps bound the fault. The report should say motor, arm, interconnect or flight controller ESC board only when the exact evidence supports it. It should also identify adjacent structure that was checked and the post-repair propulsion tests required before staged flight.
How should no-power, USB and fan symptoms be divided?
Record battery state, terminals, charger history, startup current behavior where professionally measured, USB condition, fan behavior, heat, liquid evidence and whether supported known-good equipment changes the symptom. The power board, core board, flight controller ESC board and downstream loads create different branches. Stop repeated power cycles if there is heat, odor, liquid or deformation.
An aircraft that does not enumerate over USB is not automatically a core board replacement, and a failed fan can create thermal risk without explaining every other symptom. Reboot Hub states which supply or communication stage was confirmed. Unsupported programming or private internal software procedures are not part of the public owner path.
How are GPS, compass and vision complaints separated?
Record satellite behavior, compass warning, affected direction, surface, lighting, height, contamination and impact history. The Mavic Pro has forward vision and downward vision systems in addition to GPS and compass evidence. A warning that occurs beside metal or over a difficult surface should not be treated as a board failure without a controlled comparison.
The repair report distinguishes environment, alignment, connection, sensor module, power and processing. A calibration result is evidence for one defined check, not proof that the complete navigation system and airframe are healthy. The return-to-service plan should recreate the customer's positioning concern under suitable conditions.
Why can controller, antenna and image-link faults look similar?
Record controller identity, antennas, cable and mobile-device context, app state, telemetry, controls and live image. A linked controller with no image differs from a complete disconnect or an intermittent image that records normally onboard. Test in a suitable environment and preserve the sequence rather than judging from one crowded indoor location.
The fault boundary can include controller, antennas, aircraft radio path, camera output, core processing and environment. Reboot Hub names the layer reproduced and the supported comparison used. The customer is not told to buy a core board or controller from an anonymous platform based on one weak-link session.
What changes after impact or liquid contact?
Impact can load the gimbal, forward vision, arms, motors, GPS, antennas and internal flat cables together. Liquid can reach power and core areas beyond the visible point. Preserve photos, logs and the exact event, then stop repeated power attempts when moisture, corrosion, deformation, burnt odor or abnormal heat is present.
A drone that powers on may still contain structural or corrosion risk. The diagnosis separates confirmed damage, credible adjacent risk and inaccessible areas. Repair is appropriate when the boundary is clear and acceptance can prove the relevant functions; broader damage may justify a larger assembly or documented replacement.
When should an owner repair rather than replace a Mavic Pro?
Repair is stronger when the exact fault is bounded, compatible parts provenance is available, structure remains acceptable and the planned tests can prove the required camera and flight functions. Replacement becomes stronger when several high-value domains are affected, corrosion is widespread, geometry is uncertain or parts and acceptance evidence cannot support reliable use.
Reboot Hub frames this from the customer's perspective. We disclose the exact unit, condition, supplied kit, known and unknown findings and written terms. That lets the owner compare a documented repair with a documented replacement without being pushed toward a vague marketplace promise.
What must the written quote and final acceptance prove?
The quote connects the customer's concern to reproduced evidence, exact model, relevant board revision, parts provenance, approved scope, timing and tests. The workshop target is 1-3 business days after quote approval, subject to scope, parts and testing. Approved work has a 30-day repair warranty; a qualifying complete product has a separate 180-day product warranty.
Acceptance addresses the original symptom first, then verifies power, USB and fan behavior, camera and recording, gimbal, controller link, GPS, compass, forward and downward vision, motors, controls and staged flight. The handover lists written findings and remaining observations so the customer knows exactly what the repair evidence supports.
