Start with the camera route, not the airframe name

Inspire 3 is a coherent documented camera system: the register records a 35 mm full-frame CMOS sensor, 8192 x 5456 photo output, 8192 x 4320 video output and five named DL lens choices. That is the reason to choose it. A production that needs the listed full-frame route, the specific lens range, or the stated still and video ceiling has a clear model-level reason to put Inspire 3 on the shortlist.

Inspire 2 requires a different buying conversation. Its record identifies optional Zenmuse X7, X5S and X4S camera routes alongside a 6K/5.2K video reference. Therefore, an Inspire 2 airframe without a named, photographed gimbal camera is incomplete evidence. It is not enough to say that an aircraft is an Inspire 2 and infer the camera capability from the family. The selected module, lenses where relevant, camera mount, lens glass, gimbal movement and recording media are part of the actual purchase.

Field workflow changes across camera, power and control

Professional flight platforms are not bought as a shell with a spec sheet. Inspire 3 records O3 Pro, a dual-control workflow, RTK positioning accuracy data, a 98.8 Wh TB51 battery and a power system with named charging modes. Those are system-level factors that can matter to a crew, but they must still be separated from the condition of a second-hand kit. The source record's charging times were tested at 25 C in a well-ventilated environment, so they should not be turned into a promise about a particular battery pair.

Inspire 2 has a distinct legacy-system workflow. Its register names TB50 batteries at 97.58 Wh and host-and-slave dual-user capability. Its stated flight-time references also depend on the mounted camera: approximately 27 minutes with X4S and 23 minutes with X7 in a sea-level no-wind hover test. Those conditions are not the same as the Inspire 3 forward-flight tests with different landing-gear positions. A buyer should not declare one model the universal endurance winner from those two figures; instead, count the supplied batteries, inspect the charging route and evaluate whether the actual package supports the planned day.

Aircraft measurements require an honest comparison basis

The two aircraft weight figures are not directly interchangeable. Inspire 3 is listed at approximately 3,995 g with gimbal camera, two batteries, lens, PROSSD and propellers. Inspire 2 is listed at 3,440 g with propellers and two batteries but without gimbal and camera. This is exactly why comparison pages must show the measurement basis rather than reduce every field to a colored winner badge. An actual operating case, camera module, lenses, batteries, storage media and propeller selection all determine what a crew transports and prepares.

The same discipline applies to wind and speed figures. Inspire 3 lists 94 kph maximum horizontal speed in a stated windless, sea-level configuration with the gimbal camera and lens installed, and lists separate takeoff or landing and in-flight wind-resistance figures. Inspire 2 lists 94 kph in Sport mode and a 10 m/s maximum wind-resistance figure. These manufacturer references help identify the platform design; they do not grant a blanket claim about site safety, performance in a specific weather window or what a pre-owned unit will achieve.

For a used professional drone, prove every named component

The decision becomes practical only when the selected package is documented. For Inspire 3, identify the aircraft, gimbal camera, exact lens, the two TB51 batteries, charger or charging station, controller, PROSSD or storage path, propellers and any dual-control equipment shown. Check item photographs for airframe marks, landing gear operation, sensor surfaces, gimbal range, lens condition, terminals, charging indicators and the camera mount. A clean aircraft photo does not verify the full professional system.

For Inspire 2, start by naming the camera module because X7, X5S and X4S are separate documented routes. Then identify both TB50 batteries, charger, controller, media path, propellers and any lenses or accessories that are actually shown. Ask whether the gimbal powers on and moves normally, whether the lens glass and mount are clear, whether the battery housings and terminals are intact, and whether the package includes the parts necessary to set up the system. Do not infer a bundle, pairing path or compatibility merely because a product photo shows an Inspire-family aircraft.

Questions buyers should settle before checkout

Is DJI Inspire 3 simply a newer Inspire 2?

No. The documented systems differ in camera route, battery type, airframe measurement basis, transmission workflow and control ecosystem. Choose from the job and the exact kit evidence rather than a release-year label.

Can the published flight-time figures be compared directly?

Not as a prediction for a used aircraft. Inspire 3 and Inspire 2 figures in the source records were measured under different stated conditions and camera or landing-gear configurations. Treat them as model context, then verify the actual batteries and charging path.

What must be identified in a used Inspire 2 package?

The exact gimbal camera, lenses if applicable, two batteries, charger, controller, propellers, storage media and any accessories must be named and shown. The Inspire 2 record lists optional Zenmuse X7, X5S and X4S camera routes, so an aircraft-only title is not enough.
