The Mini 2 SE and Mini 4K look close on a specification sheet. The useful difference is not a generic winner: it is whether native 4K matters to what you want to make, then whether the exact pre-owned aircraft, controller, batteries and supplied kit have been described clearly enough to make a confident decision.
Choose Mini 4K for native 4K delivery, vertical crops or 2.7K/60 slow motion. Choose Mini 2 SE for mainly 1080p edits when its complete kit costs meaningfully less. Neither adds obstacle avoidance; a camera upgrade is not a sensing upgrade.

A centered 9:16 crop is about 1215 x 2160 from 4K, versus 861 x 1530 from 2.7K. For a 1080 x 1920 vertical export, the latter needs upscaling; further cropping reduces detail. Both gimbals counter camera rotation, not subject motion or every vibration. More pixels do not fix a blurred exposure. Inspect the original microSD recording, not the 720p live view. DJI's 31-minute test uses a controlled wind tunnel equivalent to windless sea-level flight at 17 kph, in Photo mode, until a forced landing from battery depletion. It is not usable filming time. Headwinds demand more propulsion and cold reduces battery performance; reserve power for the return. Both aircraft operate at 0-40 C; charging is 5-40 C. RC-N1 serves Mini 2 SE; Mini 4K supports RC-N1C and RC-N1. Both use DJI Fly with a compatible phone, not a phone-only control kit. Verify the supplied phone cable, battery fit and a sample recording. The cleanest dividing line is video output. DJI lists Mini 2 SE at up to 2.7K video and Mini 4K at up to 4K video. That can matter if native 4K files are part of the work you want to keep or deliver. It does not make one unit automatically right for every buyer, and it does not establish the condition of a particular aircraft.

For both models, DJI's maximum flight-time figure is a controlled-condition benchmark. It is useful for model comparison, but it is not a fixed promise for every route, weather condition, recording choice or individual battery. Plan a real flight around current conditions and the information available in the app, then make the buying decision around the evidence available for the specific pre-owned kit.
Neither model comparison removes the need to learn the controls, use an appropriate place to fly and follow the local rules that apply to the flight. A specification page helps describe a model; it does not replace operator judgement.

Once you know whether 4K is essential, the model comparison is only half finished. A transparent purchase path makes the possible worries visible before you commit: which controller and batteries are included, what charging equipment comes with the kit, what has been observed about the condition, which questions remain open and which written terms apply.
