Manual-based Mavic 4 Pro guide

Use the model checklist, then verify the individual aircraft: DJI's Mavic 4 Pro manual specifies steps for preparation, powered checks, return-to-home settings, propellers, batteries and post-flight handling. Those instructions explain what to inspect. They do not turn a model specification into a present-condition statement for a particular aircraft.

A damaged Mavic 4 Pro return is an order-specific path

A return route involving China cannot be inferred from the aircraft model or an online repair discussion. The seller's current return terms, carrier requirements, declared contents and destination rules govern the actual shipment. This page focuses on exact-unit preparation and evidence; it does not promise that a particular Mavic 4 Pro can be returned, repaired or cleared through a particular route.

Start with physical preparation before treating software messages as evidence

The manual's pre-flight checklist starts with the physical aircraft. It says to remove protective parts, make sure the Intelligent Flight Battery and propellers are mounted securely, unfold the arms and propellers, and confirm that the gimbal and camera are functioning normally. It also calls for clear camera lenses and sensors, unobstructed motors and a successful DJI Fly connection.

Confirm that the arms unfold, the propellers are mounted securely and the motors have no obstruction. The manual also instructs operators to avoid aged, chipped or broken propellers.

Inspect the gimbal area for anything that could obstruct it, then check that the camera and sensing surfaces are clean. A clean surface does not prove later sensor behavior.

Connection

Aircraft, controller and DJI Fly

Confirm the controller, aircraft and app connection as a current setup check. It does not identify every supplied device or establish a previous flight history.

For an exact item, separate the manual checklist from observations. Name the aircraft and controller actually present, record the visible propeller and gimbal state, and state which checks were completed. A broad phrase such as “tested” is less useful than a bounded record of the surfaces, movement and connection that were observed.

A powered check has a sequence and a limit

DJI describes a basic sequence: place the aircraft in an open, level area, power on the remote controller and aircraft, open DJI Fly, wait for self-diagnostics to complete, and only then start the motors if the app does not display an irregular warning. The manual also says that auto takeoff begins from the camera view after the pre-flight steps have been completed and conditions are suitable.

Record what was actually seen

A concise record can identify power-on behavior, controller connection, displayed warnings, gimbal movement, camera view and motor response at the time of inspection. It should name the conditions and items checked.

Do not overread it

A short run is not a lifetime prediction

A powered sequence does not establish unseen damage, prior treatment, long-term battery health, sensor performance in every environment or future flight behavior. Keep those unknowns separate.

The manual warns against stopping motors mid-flight except in defined emergency circumstances, and it says that motors and propellers must be handled carefully. This is operational guidance, not a diagnosis of any individual airframe. The value of a current record is that it reports exactly what happened during the bounded check instead of making a wider claim.

Identify the exact battery and controller rather than assuming a package

The aircraft battery has level LEDs that display its current charge state; the manual describes checking the level with one press of the power button. It also directs users to fully charge the battery before use and to use the provided charging equipment or chargers that support the specified USB PD route. The charging hub is described as compatible with a specific Intelligent Flight Battery model, not every battery that resembles it.

Identify, inspect and state the reading

For an exact item, name each supplied battery, record any visible condition observations and separate a present level display from a claim about capacity or endurance. The manual's stated operating reference is not a present-state measurement.

Confirm the paired controller path

The manual describes both DJI RC Pro 2 and DJI RC 2 controller sections. An aircraft listing still needs to identify the actual controller, its connection state and the equipment supplied with it.

Charging and controller evidence should be specific enough for someone else to understand the setup without filling gaps from the aircraft family name. This is especially important when a listing contains more than one battery, controller or charging component.

Return-to-home settings are operating context, not a blanket safety promise

The manual explains that Return to Home can be triggered by a user action, low battery or loss of controller signal after a Home Point has been recorded and the positioning system is functioning normally. It also explains that RTH behavior depends on the selected settings and conditions available to the vision system.

For a bounded check, identify that the Home Point and relevant RTH settings were reviewed in DJI Fly. Do not turn that review into a claim that the aircraft will negotiate all paths or all environments. The manual gives separate constraints for lighting, sensing conditions and obstacle context. Exact condition, settings and environment remain part of the individual evaluation.

Finish with a post-flight condition record

DJI's post-flight checklist calls for a visual inspection of the aircraft, remote controller, gimbal camera, Intelligent Flight Batteries and propellers; it also calls for clean camera lenses and vision sensors, then correct storage before transport. The maintenance instructions say to remove the battery before certain work and to store equipment in a dry environment.

  • Record the exact aircraft, controller, batteries, charger and other supplied items.
  • Keep physical observations separate from model specifications and stated operating guidance.
  • Note the powered checks completed and any warning or exception actually observed.
  • Review propellers, motors, gimbal, camera lenses and sensing surfaces before and after a run.
  • Identify the current battery reading without representing it as a capacity result.
  • Review Home Point and RTH settings as context, not a guarantee about every route.

This is a more dependable way to evaluate a Mavic 4 Pro: the manual provides a repeatable inspection frame, while exact-item evidence records what was present and observed. Neither layer should be used to silently substitute for the other.

Does the pre-flight list prove a used Mavic 4 Pro is fault-free?

No. The list describes operating checks from the DJI manual. It does not establish the condition, history, supplied components or future behavior of one aircraft.

Does a Return-to-Home setting prove an aircraft will avoid every obstacle?

No. The manual describes RTH behavior and its operating conditions. The exact airframe, environment, sensors, settings and controller state still need to be considered.
