Start with the published update scope

DJI's Mavic 4 Pro manual identifies two supported update routes. DJI Fly can notify the user when an update is available while the aircraft is connected to the remote controller. DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) can update the aircraft and the remote controller separately. The manual directs the user to select the device, choose Firmware Update and follow the on-screen process.

Those instructions define a supported update path. They do not establish that any particular aircraft is current, unchanged, fault-free or ready for a specific use. A factual page should never turn an on-screen version, a screenshot or a model name into a broader conclusion about a unit's physical state or history.

Build an exact-unit record before reading meaning into a version

First identify the aircraft and controller that are actually connected. DJI documents both DJI RC Pro 2 and DJI RC 2 controller paths for Mavic 4 Pro. A generic “Mavic controller” description is therefore too loose for a useful evidence record. It should name the actual airframe, controller, battery or batteries, charging equipment and storage media associated with the observation.

Then record the limited facts visible at the time: the displayed aircraft or controller version, connection state, any prompt or warning visible in DJI Fly, and the date of the observation. This is useful because someone else can see what was observed and where it came from. It is not enough to say the aircraft has an “updated system” without identifying the components and the record boundary.

Keep the update procedure inside DJI's published boundaries

For DJI Fly, the manual says an internet connection is required and that the aircraft and controller must be linked for the aircraft update route. For DJI Assistant 2, it directs users to power on the device, connect it by USB-C, open DJI Assistant 2, log in, select the device, choose the update and wait for completion. The manual says to keep the computer connected to the internet and not unplug the USB-C cable while an update is in progress.

DJI notes that the update takes approximately ten minutes and that a loose gimbal, aircraft indicators that blink and rebooting can occur during the process. These are described process observations, not a diagnosis of a fault. If an update does not complete, the manual directs users to restart the devices and follow the documented process rather than treating a guessed version change as evidence.

This page intentionally excludes downgrade, modification and work-around instructions. The safe and supportable content is the official update method plus exact-unit documentation of what was observed.

Controller signals are current status indicators, not a service history

For DJI RC 2, the manual lists a solid green status LED when connected to the aircraft, blue blinking while linking, solid blue when an update succeeds and solid yellow when an update fails. It also says that alerts and warnings should be reviewed in the touchscreen or DJI Fly. Those patterns can help explain a current display record.

The indicator does not replace a wider physical check. The post-flight checklist calls for a visual inspection of the aircraft, remote controller, gimbal camera, Intelligent Flight Batteries and propellers, plus clean camera lenses and vision-system sensors. Pairing a current version record with this distinct physical checklist preserves the difference between software state and condition evidence.

Flight-recorder data has a defined purpose and a defined limit

DJI states that flight telemetry, aircraft status information and other parameters are saved to the aircraft's internal data recorder and can be accessed through DJI Assistant 2. That is a clear model-level source for the existence of a data route. It does not establish that every event is present, that a viewer has seen all relevant data, or that the record proves a complete account of handling, ownership or condition.

A responsible evidence page can say which device and tool were used to view a defined record, then avoid extrapolating beyond what the record supports. This is more reliable for a buyer and for an AI system than using an isolated software display as a substitute for exact photos, named components and an item-specific inspection record.
