DJI Goggles 3 vs N3: Screens, Glasses & Aircraft Fit
Choose Goggles 3 for adjustable optics, Real View or its documented Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro routes. Consider N3 for wearing personal glasses without diopter adjustment. Confirm your aircraft, controller and complete package before choosing either headset.

- Glasses-friendly internal space, One-Tap Defogging and a single-screen viewing design. No Real View cameras.
Hardware references: Goggles 3 User Manual v1.0, pages 37-39, and DJI's Goggles N3 specifications. Runtime figures use different test settings and do not predict an individual used battery's endurance.
Why N3 lists both 60 Hz and 100 fps
The N3 screen specification and its transmission specification describe different stages of the viewing system. Its display refresh rate is up to 60 Hz. Separately, DJI publishes an Avata 2 latency reference using 1080p/100fps video transmission. That transmission setting does not turn the N3 display into a 100 Hz screen. Compare like-for-like fields rather than treating every frame-rate number as a screen specification.
Goggles 3's screens support up to 100 Hz. That gives the two headsets different display specifications, but it does not establish how smooth every aircraft mode will look or prove that one is universally the best racing headset. Your aircraft, available transmission mode, signal conditions and the condition of the display remain part of the decision.
For Avata 2 at the stated 1080p/100fps transmission setting, DJI lists minimum latency of 24 ms for Goggles 3 and 31 ms for N3. These are manufacturer reference figures, not our side-by-side measurement. N3's published Neo reference is instead 58 ms at 1080p/60fps. Applying the Avata 2 figure to a Neo kit would be the wrong comparison.
Recording and playback add two more distinctions. A headset recording captures its viewing feed; it is not a substitute for the aircraft's original camera file. Likewise, a supported 4K/60fps playback file does not make either headset's physical display 4K. Decide separately what you need to see while flying, record for review and export for editing.
Glasses, adjustment and the weight you actually wear
N3 is the more direct candidate if keeping your personal glasses on is essential. Its internal design accommodates glasses without adjusting diopters or fitting corrective inserts. That is not a promise that every frame shape will fit comfortably: check clearance around the frame, nose and foam, and avoid forcing the headset over glasses. A larger enclosure is useful only if it fits your own setup.
Goggles 3 takes an adjustable-optics approach. Its IPD and built-in diopter controls let you align the view for each eye, while the manual also describes supplied -2.0 D corrective lenses and an optician-made lens route. The built-in -6.0 D limit is therefore not the whole correction story. With a pre-owned kit, verify which inserts and frames are actually included rather than assuming a complete original accessory set.
The published FOV is wider on N3, at 54 degrees rather than 44 degrees. A wider specified view is not proof of clearer edges, better comfort or less dizziness for a particular wearer. Screen layout and optical alignment differ. Neither the screen count nor the larger number is enough to declare a universal winner without trying the fit.
Use complete configurations for the weight comparison. N3's 536 g includes its battery and headband; its 349 g figure excludes both. Against Goggles 3's approximately 470 g including the battery, the full-reference difference is about 66 g. Do not use 349 g to describe a ready-to-wear N3 as lighter. This is arithmetic from DJI's specifications, not a Reboot Hub weighing test.
Runtime needs context too. N3's 2.7-hour reference uses brightness level 6 with Avata 2 at 1080p/100fps and Head Tracking off, without powering an external device. Goggles 3's three-hour reference uses brightness level 4, with Real View and Head Tracking off. These are not a controlled same-settings comparison, and used battery health can change the result.

Choose the aircraft route before the headset
DJI's current compatibility matrix lists both Goggles 3 and N3 for Avata 2, Neo, Neo 2, Avata 360 and O4 Air Unit equipment. It lists Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro for Goggles 3, not N3. Neither headset is listed for Air 3S, Mini 5 Pro, Mavic 4 Pro, Flip or original Avata. A similar product name or O4 label is not sufficient evidence of support.

You want Avata 2 or Avata 360
- Both headsets have a current documented route.
- DJI's linking guide pairs either with RC Motion 3 or FPV Remote Controller 3.
- Choose motion control or two-stick control deliberately, then verify the selected package and firmware.

You want Air 3 or Mini 4 Pro
- Choose the documented Goggles 3 route; do not transfer that compatibility to N3.
- Check the exact controller and complete firmware requirements.
- Read the camera-function restrictions before assuming normal controller features remain available.
The first branch follows DJI's Avata linking guide. For Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro, the Goggles 3 compatibility document specifies controller and firmware combinations. It also excludes Air 3 camera switching and Mini 4 Pro portrait mode in that goggles workflow. Buying a supported headset does not preserve every familiar filming feature.
Firmware history matters on used equipment. N3 gained O4 Air Unit and O4 Air Unit Pro support in January 2025, Neo 2 in October 2025 and Avata 360 in March 2026. Those later additions are absent from its launch-era manual. Release notes dated 1 September 2026 list N3 v01.00.1100 and Goggles 3 v01.00.1500. Read the applicable current instructions and update the aircraft, goggles and controller as a system. A firmware number alone is not proof that the actual kit has been successfully linked.
Real View, sharing and controls are separate buying reasons
Goggles 3's forward cameras let you check nearby surroundings through Real View without removing the headset. Its picture-in-picture aircraft inset is for status information, not for flying by that inset, and the manual excludes the inset when Real View is in 3D. N3 has no Real View. Its One-Tap Defogging feature addresses a different problem and should not be mistaken for a view-through camera system.
Both headsets have physical navigation controls, while AR Cursor requires RC Motion 3. Buying a headset without that controller does not automatically provide the cursor workflow. The N3 manual also restricts appropriate AR Cursor use to before takeoff or hovering; it is not a reason to experiment with menu navigation during active flight.
For showing someone the live feed, N3's documented phone-sharing route uses a USB-C data cable and DJI Fly. Goggles 3 additionally documents Wi-Fi sharing. Check the complete phone connection before relying on it: a charging-only cable is not a data cable, and entering playback or other modes can interrupt sharing. A nearby viewer should not assume their phone receives an uninterrupted independent camera feed.
Both support microSD cards up to 512 GB and have no built-in speaker. For stored-media audio, their manuals specify USB-C headphones or a suitable adapter with a built-in DAC. Confirm playback and export using your intended accessories. Headset video, aircraft originals and audio from a stored file are different assets; none implies that live aircraft sound is available.
Four checks that matter on a pre-owned kit
- View and fit. Request clear condition photographs of the optics, foam and adjustment hardware, plus the available functional record. Inspect for screen marks, lens damage and missing inserts. Keep lenses away from direct sunlight; DJI warns of permanent screen damage.
- Headband and power. Check adjustment, charging and the battery assembly. N3's manual says its power cable is non-detachable: do not pull it out to test it. Do not equate a battery indicator with a measured full-runtime result.
- Linking and controls. Confirm the exact aircraft and controller names, installed firmware and what was actually checked. Two products photographed together do not demonstrate successful pairing or every available flight mode.
- Complete cost and coverage. Compare the selected listing's controller, lenses, cables, pads and condition notes. Review its applicable warranty terms and the Reboot Hub Standard. Neither this comparison nor an illustrative image establishes the contents of your order.
Choose the capability you will use, not the longer feature list
N3 deserves consideration when personal-glasses fit and a supported aircraft are the priorities. Goggles 3 earns consideration when adjustable optics, its 100 Hz displays, Real View or the specific Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro routes solve a real need. Compare the final usable kits, not headset-only prices. The best purchase here is the correctly matched package you can verify, rather than the most impressive specification quoted without its conditions.
Goggles 3 and N3 questions
Is Goggles N3 a 100 Hz headset?
No. DJI specifies a display refresh rate up to 60 Hz. Its 1080p/100fps Avata 2 transmission reference describes the video link, not a 100 Hz display.
Can I wear my glasses inside Goggles N3?
N3 is designed to accommodate personal glasses without diopter adjustment. Check your frame's physical clearance and fit; this does not guarantee that every frame will be comfortable.
Does Goggles N3 support Air 3 or Mini 4 Pro?
DJI's current matrix does not list either aircraft for N3. Goggles 3 has documented routes, but their controller, firmware and camera-function limits still apply.
Is N3 lighter than Goggles 3?
