DJI After China Repair

Updated June 08, 2026

India post-repair path

A DJI system returning from repair in China to India is not a new-purchase decision. The practical task is to compare the returned system with the record sent into service, then keep the returned configuration and destination evidence together before acceptance.

Use a return-to-owner acceptance record

The service record should make it possible to identify the unit that left for repair and the system returned to the owner. It should not be replaced by informal language about what a unit may do in another country.

Evidence item Why it matters Decision
Outbound service record Connects the original aircraft, controller, and reported condition to the service case. Keep the intake or shipping record with the repair case.
Returned serial and system record Shows what has actually returned to the owner. Compare it with the record supplied before service.
Controller and account record Keeps the working system and account state part of the acceptance decision. Confirm the record before accepting the return.
Service summary and destination Separates the service action from the owner's planned country of use. Ask for clarification where the written record is incomplete.

Version is not GEO

GEO concerns the planned location. It is separate from a sales-market label, service history, or the buyer's destination record. No version or service label creates authority to operate in a restricted or controlled location.

Keep service evidence separate from GEO and local rules

GEO is location-based and local operating requirements remain separate from service documentation. No service record, sales label, or version label replaces official aviation guidance for the intended operating area.

Commercial / enterprise

For a commercial system, record the full returned configuration, including project-specific equipment and management setup where relevant.

Consumer Mini, Air, or Mavic

For a Mini, Air, or Mavic, confirm the aircraft, controller, account, and service record. A commercial project-system review is not implied.

FAQ

Is a DJI unit returning from repair the same as a new China-market purchase?

No. This is a continuation of an existing unit. The acceptance record should compare the returned system with the serial, controller, account, and configuration evidence supplied before service.

Which records matter when accepting a returned unit in India?

Keep the outbound service record, returned serial evidence, controller record, account status, service summary, and intended-destination record together before accepting the return.

Does the repair record replace local operating requirements?

No. The service record describes the unit returned to the owner. Local airspace, registration, and operating requirements remain separate and should be checked with the appropriate authority.

Does a consumer unit need enterprise reconfiguration review after repair?

No. A standard Mini, Air, or Mavic owner normally confirms the aircraft, controller, account, and service record. Enterprise systems need the fuller project-configuration record.

What should happen if the returned configuration cannot be evidenced?

Ask the service path to clarify the missing record before accepting the return. Keep a documented next step rather than relying on an informal assurance.
