Common Failure Modes
Symptoms: Photos or video are soft, black or distorted, or autofocus fails to settle.
Likely areas: Lens, optical zoom/focus mechanism, sensor path, settings and mount connector.
Check the lens and capture settings before treating the sensor as defective.
Symptoms: Horizon tilt, vibration, overload or abnormal gimbal movement.
Likely areas: Gimbal, mount, dampers, firmware and calibration.
Do not force the gimbal; verify a controlled stabilization test after service.
Symptoms: Recording stops, files are missing or the camera is not recognized.
Likely areas: Supported storage media, recording settings, firmware, mount and data path.
Preserve original files and check media compatibility before replacing boards.
Symptoms: Damaged housing, scratched optics, wet contacts or corrosion after exposure.
Likely areas: Housing, lens, contacts and internal power path.
Follow the model-specific IP rating and isolate a damaged unit before reuse.
Repair Notes
Confirm the exact Zenmuse camera, lens and aircraft/firmware pairing; similar bodies do not prove interchangeability.
Test optical zoom, autofocus, still/video capture and supported microSD media separately; compare digital zoom only at its documented recording resolution.
Power off before detaching the payload. Inspect connector contacts and gimbal movement without forcing the axes.
After service, verify stabilization, representative still/video capture and file integrity in a controlled test.
